Every month we have the privilege of hearing some amazing Social Business stories as our clients take our teachings, ideas and strategies, and ‘bake them in’ to their businesses. We figured that keeping all of these cool stories to ourselves was a little selfish, so we have decided to share with you the ones that came our way over the last few weeks.
One of the things we always say at The Social Adviser is that Social is NOT about perfection, it is about constant iteration. Social Adviser David Rae, of Beames and Associates, demonstrates this perfectly with his evolving mastery of video.
Even though his early videos were a little rough around the edges (as are everyone’s first videos), he still received overwhelmingly positive feedback from his clients following his early attempts.
Over the weekend we noticed a new video upload to Dave’s YouTube channel and we were so impressed with the quality, authenticity, and value of the content that we just had to share it with you here. Stay tuned to Dave’s YouTube work… we predict some rapid evolution from here 🙂
Marshall Brentnall, from Evalesco Financial Services in Sydney, let his passion and conviction out this month with two of the best blog posts we have seen yet!
The first article titled ‘FoFA has been hijacked!’ was a little controversial but Marshall had the courage to voice opinions shared by many about how the legislation has been misdirected. The article picked up media coverage which has already led to a meeting with some seriously good new prospective clients. The article has been shared widely on Social Media and is continuing to create traction whilst at the same time stamping Marshall’s place as a leader with both an opinion and guts.
The second article posted on 1 April (April Fool’s Day) was a satirical look at investing with the launch of the ‘Evalesco Delorian Fund’. ‘Hindsight investment’ and ‘backwards measuring’ at its finest!! This article picked up media coverage in the Sydney Morning Herald and has been fantastically popular on Social Media with hundreds of interactions, shares and comments in just a few days.
It can often be a challenge helping our clients find their own voice because everyone is different and everyone should have different convictions, and on different topics. Let your purpose, insight and passion be your guide; if it feels like work, your approach to Social is WRONG! We are proud of you, Marshall; this is just the start!
On the other hand, Paul Wright and his team have kicked some fantastic goals through the heartfelt use of Facebook. Jennifer Bott, ODH Client Service Manager, shared her concern, conviction and belief in Income Protection with her football club friends on their community Facebook page. This was no promotion, just real transparent concern and discussion. Nice work Jen!
Here is what Paul had to say, ‘9 (yes 9!) Income protection cases out of Jen’s football team connection, all proceeding, all in force, gobsmacked.’
And then there’s Chris Nairn (a relative newcomer to The Market Leaders program), who attended our Focus Workshop on LinkedIn and has since seriously ‘run with the ball’. Over the last four months he has sent a steady stream of updates on his amazing results and here is what he had to say this month…
‘The work I have been doing with LinkedIn that you showed at your workshop has been amazing. Since we chatted a while back, the change in mindset when I meet people has led to some amazing results. The golf group has some amazing plans lined up as well. But especially had a couple of messages in the last week that I know you will get a buzz out of. These were unsolicited and from connections that I have never spoken to before.’
Chris has been gracious enough to share two of the messages he received from connections this month and we believe they illustrate just how much opportunity there is for us to reach people in new ways and to help take Advice mainstream. Let me finish with these great LinkedIn messages to inspire you.
Hi Chris,
Hope you are well. Ive been meaning to get on contact with you. After reading through your profile I feel you and I share a number of values.
Based on this thought I would shoot off a message to see if there is a possibly we can have a chat about your services. I own a property services company, and have a strong entrepreneurial streak with a couple of side projects on the go. Unfortunately one of my weaknesses is getting my personal finances organised. Aligning what I do (work wise) with the end benefit to my personal life has been challenging.
Would love the opportunity to discuss your services in more detail to see if you can help me.
Is this possible?
And
Chris
I have been reading your posts for some time now and I enjoy the inspiring words you use to spark peoples imagination. Particularly about the passion you have in what you love to do in life. Keep going!!
We use very similar language and it makes me wonder if you have come across a fellow by the name of Benjamin J Harvey at Authentic Education.
How is your passion for helping people with their financial goals and problems going? I’d be interested to hear.
It would be nice to catchup for coffee and chat.
When are you free?
Chat soon.
There is a whole world of opportunity that exists through digital channels, it is possible to leverage the personal, and in fact it is essential for you to learn how to do this if we are going to positively evolve the future of Advice and Professionalism.
Take care, and be Social.
