Welcome to 2017,
Disclaimer: This is my opening message for the year and it’s both optimistic and a serious kick in the pants.
If you are like most Business people I know, you are back into the swing of things.
Emails are flowing, your task list is maxed out and clients are waiting. Did the holidays happen? What did you really do differently in 2016 and what are you going to do differently in 2017.
If you are reading this, you know I talk about the need to change ‘service business’ drastically. You know I have been espousing the evolve or perish mantra for years, especially in Accounting, Financial Advice, Financial Services etc – adapt to technology, evolve your service delivery, use social media as a relationship scaling tool, harness video in a professional landscape etc etc.
I called it five years ago, when I said you had 2-5 years to change in a big way. Now I’m being way more specific. 2017 is the year! Your last year where you choose to move forward or you are left behind. For clarity, when I say left behind, I mean your bottom line, your ability to not only survive but to flourish.
Our team is personally connected to more than 25,000 owners of Advice / Service related business. We are watching… we can see the pattern and know the numbers.
The way Financial Advisers, Accountants and all related businesses have run things to date is as good as dead in 2018. When I can see rapidly increasing numbers of firms growing at 4-5+ times the average and doing it with less than 30% of the cost and resources, I know the tipping point has passed.
Technology is killing your Business As Usual. Access to products, investment, knowledge, strategies, compliance gateways, legal systems i.e. everything that Service Business has been based upon is now a commodity and that trend is accelerating.
Perhaps you don’t feel the crunch yet, but you will, the numbers don’t lie.
But the exciting news is that there has never been a more exciting time for those willing to embrace change, innovate and use technology. I plan to continue sharing the best ideas, technology and strategies with those willing to be a part of the connected future.
P.S. If you would like to see examples like…
John Strange, who at the age of 70 decided to launch a new group based program for Small Business Clients and has proven the idea of taking on and serving one client at a time is both less profitable and less beneficial.
He also proves that LinkedIn and Facebook can be used to scale service business extremely quickly.
Andrew Rocks, the CEO of Announcer Group, who shifted his entire business and 30+ Advisers to become a Social Business based on scaling service through video and using LinkedIn. Their engagement results have been so profound in less than a year that LinkedIn themselves wanted to feature them at their own international conference in January.
Perhaps you would also like to see the new video technology that makes this all possible, and learn how you use it to streamline your client service so easily it will make your head spin with the possibility.
If any of this has captured your interest, then I would like to invite you to come to AdviserEdge in March, the national conference that I created as an Adviser for the best and most forward thinking in the Advice Professions. We believe it is the biggest and most advanced event in the world that is focused on relationship and service leverage through Social Media and Technology.
This is your chance to join the community we have created before our event sells out, and before your chance to stay relevant has passed you by.
2017 is the year to evolve and AdviserEdge is your knowledge gateway to make that possible.
Hope to see you there.
